VISIONARY EYE
EYE CONDITIONS

Glaucoma. The silent thief of sight.

Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that damage the optic nerve, usually through elevated eye pressure. Modern MIGS procedures have transformed how we manage it - often eliminating daily drops.

01 - What it is

Eye pressure damages the optic nerve long before vision changes.

Glaucoma usually develops without symptoms until significant damage has occurred. By then, it's irreversible. That's why early detection - through regular pressure checks and optic-nerve imaging - is critical.

Modern treatment focuses on lowering eye pressure to prevent further damage. Medicated drops are the typical first step, but the MIGS family of procedures can often eliminate or dramatically reduce daily-drop dependence.

FAQ

Common questions.

  • Can MIGS replace my daily drops?
Many patients reduce or eliminate daily glaucoma drops after MIGS. The exact outcome depends on your starting pressure and the device chosen. See our MIGS page for the full family of options.
  • Will I go blind from glaucoma?
Modern treatment is excellent. The vast majority of patients who follow their treatment plan retain functional vision for life. The risk grows when glaucoma goes undiagnosed or untreated for years.
  • Is glaucoma surgery covered by insurance?
Yes - most MIGS procedures are considered medically necessary and covered by Medicare and most insurance plans. We verify benefits before you commit.
