Dr. Shehzad Batliwala, DO, MGM - known to patients as Dr. Shehz and as The Visionary Doc - is a double board-certified vision correction surgeon known for calm precision in the OR and deep care for every patient. He was the first Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine accepted into Dean McGee Eye Institute's ophthalmology residency.
With experience across NASA research, Dean McGee Eye Institute, and advanced refractive training alongside pioneers of EVO ICL, he brings together the rigor of a researcher and the warmth of a family physician. He believes that vision correction surgery is one of the most meaningful procedures in medicine - and that earning your trust is the most important part of doing it well.

Dr. Shehz was born in India and raised in the United States as an undocumented immigrant, an upbringing that shaped his drive, resilience, and respect for patients who need clarity before they can move forward with confidence.
His early fascination with the human eye and outer space led him to NASA's Johnson Space Center, where he conducted cardiovascular research on Spaceflight-Associated Neuro-Ocular Syndrome (SANS), studying how space travel affects astronauts' eyes.
That intersection of space medicine and ophthalmology helped shape the practice philosophy he calls Educate, Don't Sell. Every consultation is a conversation, and every patient should leave informed, empowered, and confident in the decision that is right for them.
