After medical school at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, ophthalmology residency at Dean McGee Eye Institute, where he was the first Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine accepted, advanced refractive training alongside pioneers of EVO ICL, and time spent in NASA-affiliated research, Dr. Shehzad Batliwala saw an opening for the kind of practice he'd always wanted to work in: technically rigorous, deeply personal, and slow enough to do the work right.
Visionary Eye is what he built. A clinic where surgical precision and warmth aren't in tension - they're the same standard, applied at every step.
The path that led here.
01Training
Dr. Shehz attends the University of North Texas Health Science Center for medical school, becomes the first Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine accepted into Dean McGee Eye Institute's ophthalmology residency, and goes on to advanced refractive training alongside pioneers of EVO ICL, including LASIK and presbyopia-correcting intraocular lens implants.
02NASA Research
Before founding the practice, Dr. Shehz gains NASA-affiliated research experience - work that shapes how he thinks about precision, safety, and how to bring high-reliability standards into a clinical setting.
03Founding Visionary Eye
Dr. Shehz opens Visionary Eye Surgery in Plano, TX with a clear thesis: build a modern ophthalmology practice that treats refractive and lens surgery as a craft, with the calm pace of a luxury hospitality brand and the technology of a research institution.
04Today
Visionary Eye is one of North Texas's leading destinations for LASIK, EVO ICL, premium cataract surgery, and the full MIGS family for glaucoma - serving patients from Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Dallas, and beyond. Every surgery is performed by Dr. Shehz personally.
