Dry Eye. When drops alone aren't enough.
Most chronic dry eye isn't about tear quantity - it's about tear quality. Treatments like IPL target the meibomian glands at the source, where artificial tears can't reach.

The tear film breaks down before it can do its job.
Healthy tears have three layers - water, oil, and mucus - that work together to lubricate and protect the eye. In most chronic dry-eye patients, the oil layer (produced by the meibomian glands along the eyelid) is what's failing.
When the oil layer is too thin or unstable, tears evaporate quickly. Artificial tears help temporarily, but they can't fix the gland dysfunction that's driving the problem. That's where IPL and structured dry-eye treatment come in.

Common questions.
Why don't artificial tears fix my dry eye?
Artificial tears address the symptom - not the cause. Most chronic dry eye is driven by gland dysfunction that drops can't reach. IPL and structured dry-eye treatment target the source. How long does IPL take to work?
Most patients report meaningful change between sessions 2 and 3 of a typical four-session plan. Maximum improvement appears 4-6 weeks after the series is complete. Can dry eye disqualify me from LASIK?
Severe dry eye can. Often we treat the dry eye first (with IPL or other modalities) - and once it's stabilized, laser correction becomes safely possible.
